Ubisoft tries to spin DRM server crash, says the games are just too popular for their own good!
Oh, Ubisoft . You so quickly went from the guys that brought us Splinter Cell (young people: Splinter Cell used to be cool in the early to mid 2000s) to the guys that have created the stupidest DRM known to man . Oh, and you’re also incapable of telling the truth

Why software costs so much: It’s the packaging!
Here’s a fairly egregious example of wasteful packaging sent by Quantum to a buddy of mine. The boxes they are unpacking contain Quantum’s licensing agreements, two single sheets of paper that were shipped in their own boxes, wrapped in bubble wrap, and contained in one main box also full of bubble wrap. Luckily they stopped shipping each sheet of paper inside the carcass of an endangered sea turtle like they used to.
Ubisoft claims new DRM scheme was designed by ‘PC guys’ who are our ‘friends’
Is it even worth getting upset over this Ubisoft nonsense ? By now you’ve certainly heard about the company’s plans to implement a new form of DRM for its PC releases—I’ve only written about it 800 times in the past month! The DRM is bat-shit crazy, sure, but it’s the sentiment behind it that has me concerned this Sunday morning

Video: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands: John Morrison jumps around, fights a sand monster
Ubisoft hasn’t given up on the Prince of Persia series just yet (despite the fact that Assassin’s Creed is essentially Persia of Persia with a different pair of shoes). There’s the movie with that guy, and the just-announced Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands .

Where were the games? Ubisofts sales down 52 percent for first half of FY2009-2010
Looks like Ubisoft hasn’t had a great couple of months, either. The France-based publisher reported today a 52 percent decline in sales for the six months that ended on September 30 compared to the same period last year

Tokyo Game Show: First impressions and a look at Sony’s and Ubisoft’s booth
I just came back from this year’s Tokyo Game Show and must say I am pretty disappointed with the show this year. There were hardly any highlights, Sony didn’t show their motion controller anywhere after the announcement during their keynote (picture of the device after the jump/more info later) and staff members often didn’t let me shoot any pictures or videos (which I did anyway if there was the chance). Here are some pictures from two booths of the show. The picture above shows the final event of the first day (Sunday is the final day).
