PostHeaderIcon MSI Wind12 U230 finally available

We told you back in November that MSI had a new notebook coming, and now they are finally here: MSI’s new Wind12 U230 machines are now available for purchase online, and they look tasty. There are two different version of the Wind12, the U230-033, and the U230-040. Both versions come standard with 2GB of DDR2, a 6 cell battery, and Windows 7 Home Premium.

PostHeaderIcon Origin’s Eon18 gaming laptop is not entirely origin-al

After Dell bought out Alienware, some of the executives left and formed a new company. That company, called Origin PC, sells high end computers and notebooks. Origin PC just announced their newest product, the Eon18 laptop

PostHeaderIcon SSD sales up last year, despite recession

So it wasn’t all bleak last year, SSD manufacturers experienced a 14% increase in sales, along with a total of over 11 million drives sold. That’s a whole lot of memory chips

PostHeaderIcon VHS tape external HDDs from Etsy. That is all

One problem with all those external drives out there is that they aren’t really stackable or easy to tell apart if you have more than one of the same. There are a thousand and one ways around this, of course, but can you really tell me that there is a better way to differentiate your storage media than by sticking each in its own 80s-kitsch VHS tape and sleeve

PostHeaderIcon Kensington’s new universal laptop charger, she is wonderfully tiny

Just met with Kensington here at CES and they’ve got a universal notebook charger coming out next month that uses 30% less energy than conventional adapters and is, perhaps more importantly, very nicely sized at 4.5″ x 2.2″ x 0.8″ – the photos don’t quite do it justice. I thought it was a larger external backup battery for a cell phone at first. The adapter features tips for most major laptop brands (except for Apple, of course, as Apple doesn’t license its MagSafe technology out to anyone) and there’s a built-in USB charging port and retractable USB cable for good measure.

PostHeaderIcon AQ Amigo USB speaker sits comfortably atop your notebook screen

Notebook speakers are generally the definition of suck. They tend to be flat, lifeless, and just plan bad, but then portable speaker sets aren’t exactly portable. The USB-powered AQ Amigo seems to be a nice solution though

PostHeaderIcon Brando wrist battery turns you into Wonder Woman

Like all Brando junk, this thing makes no sense yet makes perfect sense. It’s a battery that you wear like a wristband.

PostHeaderIcon Kohjinsha’s futuristic dual-screen notebook

Maybe it’s just me, but this dual-screen notebook Kojinsha started selling in Japan today [JP] looks very futuristic (and very cool) to me. The main selling point is that you get not one but two 10.1-inch LCD screens in a compact body (size: 280×210×19〜42mm, weight: 1.84kg)

The good news is, with this one you don’t even need to get dressed. You can probably hit these “door busters” in your pajamas.
