Good old Bill Ruppert sent us the video of his latest creation, a complete homage to “Welcome to the Machine” using only EHX pedals and an electric shaver. Crazy stuff. From the EHX post : In this episode we explore how to produce synthesizer sounds and effects from the classic Pink Floyd recording “Welcome To The Machine.“ The original recording from the 1975 album “Wish You Were Here” used an EMS VCS 3, ARP String Ensemble and Mini-Moog synthesizers.

If you’ve been staying off the ol’ PS3 today because of the widespread outage affecting older models, rest assured that all will be well shortly. People are reporting things are back to normal, but Sony has yet to update. I’d wait if I were you, I’ll update this post when I see something official

PostHeaderIcon Microsoft Surface could go mobile with this miniature projected version

One of the universal complaints about the Surface is its size — and competitors like the iTable , Displax , and FlatFrog are attempting to strike at that weak point before Microsoft comes out with the inevitable flat version. But if this nascent project being pursued by Microsoft Research bears fruit, the next version of the Surface might not have a screen at all. The idea is that the interactive surface would be projected from above, while a stereo-sensitive camera or pair of cameras captures the position of hands, objects, and so on, allowing you to interact with the image
